Bodegas Sucesores de Manuel Piquer

Bodegas Sucesores de Manuel Piquer located in Muel, Spain, produces wine bearing the Cari?ena D.O. designation. Cari?ena, the historically dominant town of the region, also lends its name to the indigenous varietal Cari?ena (or Carignan in France). Ironically, it seems the Cari?ena varietal is ill suited to produce quality wines in this region and much of the vineyard land has been replanted with Garnacha during the last century.

Bodegas Sucesores de Manuel Piquer was founded by Manuel Piquer Guimera in 1963 and has since been fully modernized. Mr. Piquer has done an excellent job of working within the constraints of this hot, dry climate to limit the yield and control the alcohol. His resulting Garnacha wine is exciting and well-balanced.
