Iberian Regions

Situated between the rainy Galicia and the sunny Castilla regions, Bierzo has a humid and mild climate, influenced by the Atlantic, spiced up with lots of sun. The region's vineyards lie at 400 to 800 meters high, sheltered by the Montes de Leon and the Cordillera Cantábrica mountain ranges. Mencia is the specialty grape that grows in the terraces along the steep slopes in Bierzo. Mencia yields fruity red wines with a marked character, even when aged. Substantial quantities of rosé wines are also produced.
